If you teach a child to read, you can change the world.
During the Camp Sharigan and Reading Orienteering Club reading programs, children follow written directions to create reading-focused projects. Moving from station to station, they write and make pop-up books, climb on Mount Reading to read a book, and capture tricky words to learn. They work in small groups and learn the joy of reading. Here are pictures of the workstations, and of some of the projects that children make by reading and following directions. The children have fun while learning to read.
